WJCL 22, the Hearst Television-owned ABC affiliate for Savannah, Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry, has promoted Amy Zimmer to station Sports Director. “Amy’s work ethic and her experience as a top tier athlete, along with years of covering all levels of championship sports help her tell local stories that are second to none,” said Hart. “She already has terrific relationships with high school, college, and pro teams – it makes Amy one of the elite sports journalists in Georgia and South Carolina.”
Will Dillard, the station’s News Director added: “Amy has been front and center for the biggest sports stories in our area. From the World Series, National Championship, NBA Playoffs, our local golf and football specials to the every day stories of local athletes, her storytelling will continue to propel WJCL 22 Sports as the best in Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry.”
“I would like to thank my Hearst family for its unwavering support through my career,” said Zimmer. “Having a profound admiration for the beauty of Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry, and its rich sports history, I look forward to the continued opportunity to shine a light on student-athletes and coaches across our area.”
Zimmer joined the WJCL 22 Sports Team in 2019 after serving as the Sports Director at NBC Palm Springs. She is a graduate of St. John’s University where she earned a degree in Communications with a double-minor in Journalism and Sports Management.
