American Heart Association to Celebrate Signature Women’s Health Initiative
Monday, March 14th, 2022
Today the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, announced that it will host the annual Savannah Go Red for Women Luncheon on April 21st at the Savannah Country Club. This signature event is in support of the organization’s national Go Red for Women initiative to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease & stroke as the leading cause of death for women.
The local Go Red for Women event will begin with a reception and silent auction at 11:30 a.m. followed by a seated lunch and educational session, as well as inspiring survivor stories to drive a conversation that encourages women to think holistically about their health and wellbeing. The event will also feature a fabulous fashion show with local celebrity models.
“Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the No. 1 killer of women, claiming more women’s lives than all forms of cancer combined. Women experience unique stages through their lives which affect both overall health and cardiovascular health, including pregnancy, menopause, and motherhood,” says Development Director Royceann Friedman. “Go Red for Women empowers and inspires women to take charge of their heart health, and we are excited to have Savannah be part of this incredible movement committed to improving the health of our communities.”
The event is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and locally sponsored by Encompass Health, South State Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, GHC Hospice, and WSAV-TV.
