Step One Automotive Group presents Mary’s Place Executive Director Doris L. Williams with their Local Hero Award in recognition of Women’s History Month. The award will be presented during their 29th monthly Grab-n-Go Meal event for first responders on Friday, March 18th from 11am to 2:00pm at their South Savannah Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Fiat located at 8701 Abercorn Street, Savannah GA. 

“Every month Step One awards a community member who has made a significant contribution to the community. Recognizing a woman who cares for women in their worst situations is what we call a hero,” states Step One Automotive Group Marketing Manager Maja Ciric. “We hope she takes a break to enjoy the $500 gift, JEEP Gladiator for a weekend and dinner at Ardsley Station.” 

“It’s been incredible to watch Doris thrive during a rebrand and name change from Rape Crisis Center to Mary’s Place where she graciously honored Mary McAllister, one of the founding members of Rape Crisis Center at a VIP reception earlier this month,” shares Marianne Ganem Poppell of Savannah Master Calendar. Adding “She kept the doors open throughout Covid, and knowing that Doris goes to the hospital at 2 and 3 in the morning to be with victims are just a few of the reasons I wanted to nominate this selfless leader.”
