April is a big month at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Starting on Tuesday, April 19th, the book “DAMN LUCKY: One Man’s Courage During the Bloodiest Military Campaign in Aviation History” by author Kevin Maurer, is being released by St. Martin’s Press. The incredible true story of Eighth Air Force veteran John "Lucky" Luckadoo, who survived 25 missions as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot in WWII. “Lucky” is a friend of the museum and has been here many times. St. Martin’s Press has scheduled the April 19th Release Party and Book Signing at the museum.

The event begins with a reception at 4:30 PM, followed by Kevin Maurer’s presentation at 5:00 PM and book signing to follow. Mr. Maurer will also be joined by New York Times bestselling author and historian Alex Kershaw. Whether Lucky will be here in person or join us via Zoom has yet to be determined, we’ll update his status once it’s confirmed.

Save the date for a big announcement about the museum’s Capital Campaign “Operation Maximum Effort” on Thursday, April 21st at 10:00 AM. The announcement will take place in the General Lewis E. Lyle Rotunda at the museum. More to come about this event later.
