Hinesville Sees Rise in August Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent in August, up two-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.7 percent.
“As we look toward the fall, we are committed to supporting the workforce as employers search for seasonal, full-time, and part-time employees to fill vacancies in preparation for the holiday employment season,” said Commissioner Mark Butler.
The labor force increased in Hinesville by 72 and ended the month with 34,493. That number increased by 63 when compared to August of 2021.
Hinesville finished the month with 33,361 employed residents. That number increased by 1 over the month and went up 218 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Hinesville ended August with 21,700 jobs, an all-time high. Jobs were up 300 from July to August and up 400 over the year.
The number of unemployment claims went up by 2 percent in Hinesville in August. When compared to last August, claims were down by about 58 percent.
