Plant Riverside District to Host Farewell to Summer Labor Day Weekend Celebration

Plant Riverside District – which is widely known as Savannah’s Entertainment District – will host a special Farewell to Summer Labor Day Weekend Celebration from Friday, September 2 through Monday, September 5.
All family-friendly festivities and are free and open to the public and will take place at Plant Riverside District, located on Savannah’s historic riverfront at 400 W. River St. The four-day event will offer free live music, kids activities, riverfront performances by Cirque Divina, an outdoor screening of the movie Grease as well as food and drink options for all ages.
“We invite Savannah residents and visitors to join us at Plant Riverside District for our annual Farewell to Summer Labor Day Weekend Celebration,” said Richard C. Kessler, Chairman and CEO of The Kessler Collection. “We’re delighted to host a four-day event for the whole family to enjoy with fun kids activities and exciting live performances.”
Featured performers at Plant Riverside District’s Labor Day Weekend Celebration include Ramona and The Riot on Friday, September 2 from 7 to 10 p.m.; Natalie Goodman on Saturday, September 3 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.; Tell Scarlet on Saturday, September 3 from 7 to 10 p.m.; Voodoo Soup on Sunday, September 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.; Swamptooth on Sunday, September 4 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love on Monday, September 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Savannah Ghost Pirates — the Hostess City’s newest hockey team — will provide free arts and crafts activities for kids of all ages on September 3, 4 and 5 from noon to 4 p.m. in Montgomery Park.
Additional highlights include a spectacular free aerial show featuring awe-inspiring performances by Cirque Divina on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 at 8:30 p.m. in Montgomery Park.
Plant Riverside District will also conclude its Movies in the Park series with a free screening of Grease, starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John, in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on Sunday, September 4 at 7 p.m. Lawn chair seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Popcorn, snow cones and beverages will also be available for purchase at a concession stand on-site.
In addition, Plant Riverside District will host a LOVEthirteen by Heather Wells Trunk Show, featuring a collection of crystal jewelry pieces and an extensive selection of crystals, on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4 from noon to 6 p.m.
