Brightside Advocacy to Open Second Supervised Visitation Center

Brightside Child & Family Advocacy continues to provide families in Chatham County with high quality and personalized advocacy for children in foster care. Expanding programs allow the organization to not only advocate for children in court but to provide more services to help support the family unit as a whole.
Just eight months after opening Bright House, the first supervised visitation and family support center in Savannah, Brightside Advocacy is preparing to open a second location. Located at 929 Wheaton Street, this added resource is instrumental in supporting even more families striving for a better life. Brightside will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location this Friday, October 7th, at 1:30 pm. In this home-like environment, parents will be assisted in developing healthy relationships with their children while participating in court-mandated supervised visitation. Bright House II will provide space for visitations for both families experiencing foster care and from the family law court, tripling the capacity of supervised visitation for families in Chatham County. Both locations will support families to heal and grow despite the many barriers that arise from difficult circumstances.
While a child is in foster care, quality supervised visitation is crucial to strengthening parent-child attachments and decreasing the sense of abandonment that children experience. Family visitation is linked to positive outcomes, including improving a child's well-being, less time in out-of-home care, and faster reunification. Executive Director Kate Blair shares that “we are proud to be able to help support families in our community with not just one, but two locations that serve as opportunities for positive solutions to difficult situations.”
