Savannah Classical Academy Announces Excellent CCCRPI Scores
Thursday, December 8th, 2022
Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) announces a stellar year for the charter school as the 2022 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores are released by The Georgia Department of Education. SCA outperformed most district schools in elementary, middle and high schools in Chatham County.
Based on these CCRPI accountability scores regarding SCA students’ mastery of core content SCA elementary ranks 6th of 36 elementary schools in Chatham County, SCA middle school ranks 3rd of 21 middle schools in Chatham County and SCA high school ranks 5th out of 13 high schools in Chatham County. This achievement is especially meaningful as there is no academic performance requirement to enroll in SCA, which is open and free to any student residing in Chatham County whose family applies through the school lottery. Removing county schools that have a student selection process with academic and performance requirements, impressively SCA ranks 4th in elementary, 1st in middle and 2nd in high school for content mastery.
The 2022 CCRPI scores are the first since 2019, due to the disruption caused by the pandemic. The Department of Education uses a calculation that reflects the opportunities schools offer students – from fine arts to career education – rather than focusing strictly on standardized test scores.
Commenting on these results, SCA CEO Mr. Barry Lollis said, “These results confirm that SCA students benefitted from our return to on campus learning in August 2020, and studies have shown that extended remote learning negatively impacted learning outcomes across the world. We are confident with our continued investment in school resources that student achievement outcomes will continue to rise.” SCA has earned a reputation for being one of the top performing schools in the county. The school was recently awarded the highest-possible rating by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, which reviews schools every five years. After a comprehensive inspection, the GAC identified SCA as ‘Accredited With Quality’ in the elementary, middle and high schools.
SCA is a K-12 school which is open to all students residing in Chatham County, is funded by the public education system but retains a charter that allows it to operate autonomously under a board of parents and community members. SCA is currently accepting lottery applications for the 2023-24 academic year through January 20, 2023. To learn more about SCA and apply for enrollment visit www.savannahclassicalacademy.org.
