The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization devoted to world of healthier lives for all, announces Anne Robin, hospice liaison of GHC Hospice, as the community volunteer chair of the 2023 Southern Coast area Go Red for Women movement. Go Red for Women is a worldwide initiative of the American Heart Association designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally, and globally.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Cardiovascular disease continues to be a woman’s greatest health threat, taking the life of one in every three women.

“Since I joined the GHC Hospice team in 2021, close to 30% of all patients we helped were diagnosed with heart disease,” said Anne Robin.  “As a Hospice Liaison, I meet our patients and families before they come onto our care.  Through resources and education, our hospice team can improve the quality of life our heart disease patients. We want our patients and their families to know Georgia Hospice Care is with them to offer physical, emotional and spiritual support. This is why supporting American Heart Association is close to my heart.”

“We are thrilled to have Anne Robin’s experience, conviction and passion help to drive Go Red in the Southern Coast. Together, we know that we will have a positive impact on the lives of women in our community and the families that depend on them,” said Royceann Friedman, development director for the American Heart Association.

This year’s Go Red for Women movement and its local achievements will be celebrated at the Southern Coast Go Red for Women Luncheon on Wednesday, April 26 at the Savannah Country Club.
