Wednesday, March 15th, 2023
On Tuesday, March 21st at 4:00 PM the museum is hosting a panel discussion on the re-released book “Luck of the Draw: My Story of the Air War in Europe" By Frank Murphy. Luck of the Draw is more than a war story. It’s the incredible, inspiring story of Frank Murphy, one of the few survivors from the 100th Bombardment Group, who cheated death for months in a German POW camp after being shot out of his B-17 Flying Fortress. Now with a new foreword written by his granddaughter, and museum trustee, Chloe Melas, of CNN, and daughter Elizabeth Murphy. The character of Frank Murphy will be featured in the upcoming miniseries “Masters of the Air.” Executive Producer Tom Hanks said, “In the pursuit of authenticity, of accurate history and undeniable courage, no words matter more than, ‘I was there.’ Read Luck of the Draw and the life of Frank Murphy and ponder this: how did those boys do such things?”
Join us to hear Frank's granddaughter Chloe Melas, his daughter Elizabeth Murphy, longtime friend and museum trustee John O'Neil III and museum Director of Education Heather Thies speak in a panel discussion about the life of WWII 8th Air Force, 100thBG/418thBS, navigator, Captain Frank Murphy.
Recent reviews of this book have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and CNN.
