WJCL 22 Expands the Role of Weekend Meteorologist Victoria Kokinos

WJCL 22, the Hearst Television-owned ABC affiliate for Savannah, Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry, has expanded the role of weekend meteorologist Victoria Kokinos to include the 7:00 PM newscast for four weeknights each week.  Kokinos will now work the 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM Sunday evening newscasts and the 7:00 PM newscasts Monday through Thursday. She will continue to work alongside Chief Meteorologist Jeremy Nelson for other weathercasts.

“It’s clear that Victoria cares about our community,” said President and General Manager Ben Hart. “We’re excited to expand Victoria’s role so she can continue to share her expertise of Savannah and Lowcountry weather.” 

Will Dillard, the station’s News Director added: “Victoria has been a key member of the Stormtracker weather team since she arrived, delivering accurate and important information to viewers in Savannah and the Lowcountry. This new role will allow her to continue that work and her impact on the community.”

“I’m thrilled to take on these additional responsibilities to keep our viewers in Savannah and the Lowcountry informed with our Certified Most Accurate Forecast,” Kokinos said. “I have felt the community’s support and I sincerely appreciate it.”

Kokinos joined WJCL 22 News in July of 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geoscience with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology and minor in Communications from Mississippi State University. Prior to joining WJCL 22 – she interned at Hearst-owned sister station WISN in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
