Hinesville Sees Drop in February Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.4 percent in February, down one-tenth of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.4 percent.
"Pro-growth policies that foster innovation and drive success are why Georgia remains the No. 1 state for business and a perennial powerhouse in talent development," said Commissioner Bruce Thompson. "Even with a slowing nationwide economy, communities across Georgia continue to thrive with low unemployment and high job growth."
The labor force increased in Hinesville by 280 and ended the month with 35,066. That number increased by 219 when compared to February of 2022.
Hinesville finished the month with an all-time high of 33,861 employed residents. That number increased by 292 over the month and went up by 183 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Hinesville ended February with 22,200 jobs. Jobs were up by 300 from January to February and up by 700 when compared to February 2022.
The number of unemployment claims went down by 6 percent in Hinesville in February. When compared to last February, claims were up by about 4 percent.
