Each year the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System recognizes support staff to include nurses, paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria workers, media clerks, counselor clerks, and secretaries.  Each school chooses a site-based representative who then competes to be named the District's Instructional Support Person of the Year (ISPY).  The District's 2024 ISPY was named at the annual reception held Tuesday, April 25, 2022, at 6:30pm at Woodville Tompkins Lower Campus. 

Hubert Middle School's Moses Alexander McNeil, Behavior Intervention Specialist, was chosen for the honor.  While working as a substitute teacher in 2021, McNeil discovered his calling for working with students to improve their behavior. As a 1999 graduate of A.E. Beach High School, he was granted a percussion scholarship to Alabama State University. McNeil states, "I can't speak enough about the value of public education. It [truly] takes a village to raise a child, and I'm grateful to be blessed to help nurture and groom young people through the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System."

He thanks his Principal Brian Dotson, his wife Valerie McNeil and all of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System for being with him throughout his career. 

The Instructional Support Person of the Year (ISPY) will act as a representative for all Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools' instructional support personnel. Responsibilities include: serving on the Superintendent's Professional Senate, providing updates during monthly School Board Meetings, serving on the ISPY Selection Committee and acting as an advocate for the school system.  The four finalists for our 2024 Instructional Support Person of the Year were also announced at the reception with the top scorer in the application process then being announced as the winner.

Ms. Katina Daniels, Administrative Secretary for Beach High School

Ms. Laterika Williams, Information Specialist for School of Humanities at Juliette Low Elem.

Ms. Christina Dalton, Counselor Clerk at Rice Creek K-8 School

Ms. Ashley Clark, Paraprofessional at Largo-Tibet Elementary
