Emmaus House Welcomes Terry Newton, Leigh Acevedo and Gina Willis to the Board of Directors

Emmaus House is honored to welcome Terry Newton, Leigh Acevedo and Gina Willis to the Board of Directors. This brings the total number of board members to 15. 2023-2024 Board Officers have been announced as Jordan Chase, Board President; Stephen Edwards, Vice President; Suzanne Kirk, Secretary; Maclain Cauldwell, Treasurer; Shannon Willhite, Immediate Past-President.
“Emmaus House has been growing exponentially over the past 10 years,” says Executive Director Ariana Berksteiner. “Our continued success is a result of having an incredibly strong and active board. I look forward to the skills and knowledge that our new members bring to the table.”
Terry Newton is a lay leader and vestry member with St.Matthews Episcopal Church and has over twenty two years of experience working with displaced individuals. “I am in awe of the part that Emmaus House plays in the community.” Terry Newton says.
Leigh Acevedo is a communicator and connector with a passion for making meaningful connections within the community. She is a graduate of both Leadership Savannah and Leadership Southeast Georgia. “Emmaus House is a cause that I have always cared deeply about.” Leigh said. “It would be a pleasure to serve and ensure it continues to operate sustainably and effectively.”
Gina Willis is the Owner and CEO of What's Gina Cooking (www.whatsginacooking.com). Gina garnered national attention that put her into the pages of Bon Appetit, Essence Magazine, Atlanta Home Magazine, Magnolia Network, local television, and a Daytime Emmy nominated digital food series with Food Network. After working in the culinary world for almost 10 years she looks forward to utilizing her skills and resources to give back to the community.
Located in downtown Savannah Georgia, Emmaus House works tirelessly to fulfill their mission to provide meals and basic services to those in need in collaboration with the Savannah community. Open Monday-Friday, hot meals, laundry, showers and clothing are provided to individuals in need.
