Staff Report

Monday, May 22nd, 2023

Largo-Tibet Elementary has been recertified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse school. Largo-Tibet was the first school in Savannah-Chatham to receive this designation back in 2021.  This designation indicates the school has achieved all the components of a fully functioning Leadership Academy.  Earning this achievement initially was a four-year process for school staff. To achieve recertification, the school must demonstrate multiple areas of proficiency in Culture, Academics, AND Leadership.

The Lighthouse Review Team that awarded recertification commended the school for multiple tenets of Leadership, Culture, and Academics and made two suggestions for continuous growth.  The school is encouraged to look for additional ways for students to use their voice in the decision making of events and to consider continuously improving school wide events through a system of planning, execution, and reflection by students, staff, and families.

The Lighthouse Certification is a highly regarded standard set by FranklinCovey that is attainable by every Leader in Me school.  The attainment of the Lighthouse Certification represents a significant benchmark and is evidence that a high standard has been met. The certification is evidence that schools have produced outstanding results in school and student outcomes, by implementing the process with fidelity and excellence. It is also because of the extraordinary impact that the schools may be having on staff, students, parents, and the greater community.

The recertification lasts for two years and then the school must go through the review process again.
