Step One Automotive Group announces Andrea B. Williams Elementary School 4th Grade Teacher Ronda Mosley as their Inaugural Learning Legacy Award winner to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8th - May 12th). Gifting $9,000 in $3,000 awards to three teachers in the Georgia, Florida and Alabama area, Step One gifted Ms. Mosley a check, balloons, certificate, plants and a surprise pizza party from Donatos on Wednesday, May 3rd at the Wheaton Street school.

“At Step One Automotive, we always support teachers and education in the communities we operate. Recognizing teachers who are innovating the classroom experience and transforming the lives of their students is exactly what Ms. Ronda is doing!” states STEP ONE Marketing Manager Maja Ciric. “Acknowledging a woman who is changing the way her students live is one of Step One’s core missions and why she is so important to all of us. ”

With the funds from Step One, Ms. Mosley stated, “These funds will purchase a greenhouse for our students. We are working on our STEAM Certification, so each grade has their own problem-based learning goal. We have chosen to plant and grow a garden, because we live in a poverty-stricken neighborhood, we want to show students how they can provide for themselves and others. So many of our students don’t know where our food comes from. This garden allows them to plant and grow food.”

She adds, “My students are so excited when we gather the food. We are able to grow items to use in classroom activities, and our goal is to expand the garden for creation of a school Farmers Market for the neighborhood. This will allow others to have access to fresh, healthy vegetables. The greenhouse will allow us to grow vegetables regardless of the weather.”
