Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in June, unchanged from a revised 3.6 percent in May. A year ago, the rate was 3.6 percent.
“The bedrock of a thriving economy lies in maintaining low unemployment, but equally essential is striking the right balance between job growth and a capable workforce that can meet the evolving needs of Georgia’s industries,” said Commissioner Bruce Thompson. “This well-balanced approach ensures businesses of all sizes have the talent they need to grow and succeed."
The labor force decreased in Hinesville by 297 and ended the month with 34,685. That number decreased by 36 when compared to June of 2022.
Hinesville finished the month with 33,439 employed residents. That number decreased by 295 over-the-month and went down by 20 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Hinesville ended June with 22,100 jobs. From May to June, job numbers decreased by 100. When compared to June 2022, jobs rose by 500.
The number of unemployment claims decreased by 7 (-5%) in Hinesville in June. When compared to last June, claims were down by 15 (-10%).
