Superfine Art Fair Announces its Return to Savannah, April 4-7, 2024

Tuesday, July 11th, 2023

The organizers of Superfine Art Fair have announced plans for the event's return to Savannah in April of 2024 at The Clyde Venue. "Immediately after our Savannah debut, it was clear that we needed to start planning for a return," Alex Mitow, CEO of Superfine Art Fair, said, adding that "we have wanted to bring the Superfine Art Fair to Savannah for years, and we finally got the chance to this spring."

"Once we made the decision, we had to get to work quickly to make our Savannah debut, reaching out to a number of artists, SCAD, community groups, and more. Now that we have been welcomed in Savannah, we are committed to building on top of the first year’s success with even stronger local partnerships and a broader presentation of Savannah-based artists," Superfine Art Fair Co-Founder and Managing Partner James Miille added. Before coming to Savannah, Superfine Art Fair had built a stellar reputation from Miami to New York and San Francisco by featuring a diverse group of artists and accessibly priced art. According to Art Fair Magazine, the Superfine Art Fair “was created to bring down the barriers of the art world, with transparent prices, affordable pieces, and non-intimidating events that encourage newcomers to the contemporary art world.”

The 2023 Superfine Art Fair in Savannah highlighted several local, regional and national artists, including Savannah transplant Jayce Hall and Bluffton native Pam White. On-site demonstrations by White, Jose Ray, Julia Lupacchino, and installations by SCAD Professor of Fibers Ben Copperwheat and SCAD graduate Abigail Tankersley gave Superfine Art Fair attendees more ways to engage with the art.

"Savannah is a unique and special place, which is why we really wanted to create memorable experiences for event attendees and give them something to talk about this year and look forward to next year. We are already planning our return to the Hostess City and have started reaching out to several local artists," according to Mitow and Miile.

One such artist, Pam White, shared her glowing praises of her experience at the fair. “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to exhibit in Superfine Art Fair Savannah. Savannah is an eclectic city merging old southern Savannah with the robust modern art scene that SCAD has helped cultivate. Superfine did a tremendous job advertising the show and drew a crowd of knowledgeable, interesting art collectors and artists. I’ve made lasting relationships with several collectors and I’m grateful to have been a part of this magic event!”

In an effort to connect the fair with the right audience in Savannah, Superfine Art Fair enlisted the support of local businesses focused on positive impacts in the community. Modern restaurant Folklore and grab-and-go eatery Cuban Window Cafe provided local dishes for the event, while Service Brewing Co., a brewery that actively supports U.S. veterans and current soldiers, provided free beer. Community support took the shape of a private tour from the SCAD Museum of Art, to the appearance of dogs in search of new homes from the animal rescue and shelter, Renegade Paw Rescue. Superfine Art Fair partnered with The Creative Coast for its opening night. The non-profit aims at building and supporting the creative economy in Savannah through education & social programs.

SCAD graduate Justin Armstrong traveled from Alabama to exhibit at the fair and shared his feedback. “What an experience! For me, Superfine Savannah received unanimous checkmarks - in extra bold Sharpie marker - for all the criteria that should belong on an artist's list of hopes, wants, and needs for a fair. As artists we seek the support to do what we love, and we thrive on witnessing that perfectly strange magic of our art speaking to others. Polaroids of new friends. Memories and good lessons. The vibes were positive, the energetic buzz was constant, and I knew that I was exactly where I needed to be. Superfine Savannah was super awesome.”

When asked about this year’s event The Clyde Venue owner, Mallory Adams, said “Superfine Art Fair is a must do, one of a kind event that we are excited to be hosting again in 2024. Not only does it showcase talented artists’ work but it is packed with entertainment and good people. This past year blew our expectations out of the water and we can’t wait to see how the team tops it this coming year.”
