Richmond Hill Receives Economic Boost thanks to the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival

The Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce hosted the 24th Annual Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival (GOSF) last weekend and local businesses in Richmond Hill are reaping the benefits.
Boy Scout Troop 400 served their famous peach cobbler again this year and ran the waste management for the entire festival. With the funds raised the Troop 400 is able to fund their entire program for the year.
A long list of civic organizations, nonprofits and sports teams raised money for their respective groups. Richmond Hill Tide Fastpitch Softball, Richmond Hill Tee Club, BSA Girl Scout Troop 242, RHHS Booster Club, New Life Church, Combat Boots to the Board Room, and Venture Crew just to name a few.
Ameris Bank offered their parking lot to the Richmond Hill Kiwanis Club who sold parking all weekend long raising money for their Scholarship Funds. SMA Angels Charity, Inc served up the most delicious food at their Tio’s Tacos booth, raising funds for the fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy. They also won the award for best decorations. The YMCA of Coastal Georgia served up their famous crawfish and were even featured live on WSAV’s Morning Break with Kyle Jordan.
Special Needs Day welcomed over 175 children with special needs who reside in Bryan County to enjoy the carnival on Friday October 20th, before the festival opened to the public.
RHBC Chamber President & CEO Summer Beal was proud to report This festival is a 100% volunteer run effort and the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce is proud to donate $6 per hour served to the local nonprofit of the volunteer’s choice.the festival allows the RHBC Chamber to give over $20,000 back to our local community. It also brings visitors and travelers to our local businesses and restaurants. We look forward to another successful year serving our community and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the festival”.
