Local non-profit, SD Gunner Fund is hosting their Salute to Service Event this Veteran’s Day on Saturday, November 11th from 6-10 PM at Belhaven Event Venue in Richmond Hill. This event aims to recognize SD Gunner Fund’s incredible supporters who make their mission possible as well as honor the veterans, first responders, and children with special needs who have benefitted from their service and therapy dog programs.
Guests will enjoy a good 'ol Low Country Boil and more delicious food donated by Himalayan Curry Kitchen, Southern Charcuterie, All Things Chocolate and More, and Nothing Bundt Cakes! Attendees may grab a drink at the cash bar and enjoy Savannah Axe Throwing, award presentations, and learn more about SD Gunner Fund’s service and therapy dog programs.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to show our appreciation to our supporters, volunteers, and recipients at our upcoming Salute to Service Event,” said Britnee Kinard, Executive Director of SD Gunner Fund. “I’ve seen firsthand how SD Gunner Fund changes people’s lives by enabling our veterans, first responders, and children with disabilities to live more independent and fulfilling lives and I cannot thank our community enough for believing in our mission.”
The SD Gunner Fund will be recognizing a special surprise guest of honor with a Legacy Award for their remarkable contribution to SD Gunner Fund’s mission and philanthropy in our community. Kristen Baird, award-winning fine jewelry designer based in Savannah, has created this year’s custom award.
About this year's collaboration, Kristen says, "I'm so grateful to be involved yet again with the Legacy Award. I'm constantly in awe of what SD Gunner Fund does in our community. It makes me really proud to lend my talents to honoring the amazing recipient."
The SD Gunner Fund proudly serves veterans, exceptional children and first responders, while inspiring disability awareness through public education and advocacy. Since its founding in 2014, SDGF has directly served over 500 veterans, first responders, and exceptional children, provided more than 65,000 hours of service and therapy dog training, and reached over 400,000 children through animal-assisted therapy.
