O.C. Welch, III announced today that Larry Silbermann will be named general manager of WRHQ, 105.3 FM, upon completion of the radio station’s purchase by Welch-owned Bradley Creek Broadcasting.
Silbermann comes to WRHQ with 33 years of broadcast experience, the past 23 of which were spent as a leader in the Savannah media market. He has been recognized for broadcast excellence by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and is the recipient of multiple Emmy awards by the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast chapter.
“I’m excited about this opportunity and look forward to helping O.C. carry on the tradition of radio excellence started by Jerry Rogers more than 30 years ago,” said Silbermann. “WRHQ has such a rich history and I consider it a privilege to lead Savannah’s only locally owned and operated radio station.”
Silbermann is the immediate past president of the Jewish Educational Alliance and currently serves on the board of directors; is past board chair and campaign chair of United Way of the Coastal Empire and currently serves as chair of the volunteer committee; and is a board member of 200 Club of the Coastal Empire. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Savannah and has previously served as a board member for Susan G. Komen of the Coastal Empire, American Red Cross, and Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
“Larry has a longstanding commitment to our community and is a respected leader in the broadcast industry,” said Welch. “He’s a perfect fit for WRHQ.”
