First Tee - Savannah was recently selected by Southbridge Savannah Golf Club and the Roan-Shurr family to receive the Eleanor Roan-Shurr Memorial Gift. A non-profit organization, First Tee — Savannah impacts the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character and instill life-enhancing values through the game of golf. On October 23, the day of Southbridge Savannah Golf Club’s Annual Women’s Golf Invitational, close friends of the late Eleanor Roan-Shurr presented the Memorial Gift to First Tee — Savannah.
According to Southbridge Savannah Golf Club, “Due to Eleanor’s passion for golf in combination with her heart for the youth of the community, it made perfect sense to choose First Tee — Savannah as the Eleanor Roan-Shurr Memorial Gift recipient.Eleanor was a well-known fixture in Southbridge. She loved this community and her golf and support groups, as they were an extension of her family. Eleanor was absolutely the definition of success: respected and loved by both adults and children.”
“First Tee — Savannah is incredibly grateful for the community support of Southbridge Savannah Golf Club with this selection,” John Parker, Program Director, First Tee — Savannah, said. “Their support is a big help as we continue to grow our program.”
“Now, as we head into a nationwide day of giving on November 28—Giving Tuesday—we would greatly appreciate any additional support from the community,” Parker added. “Donations made to First Tee Savannah on Giving Tuesday and any day help us reach more kids. Right now, 50% of First Tee Savannah’s participants receive scholarships, and our 2024 goal is to increase our scholarships for economically disadvantaged students to 60%.” To make a donation, please go to https://firstteesavannah.org/building-the-future-for-our-youth/ .
