The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organizationdevoted to a world of healthier lives for all, announces Cathy Howington as the chair of the 2024 Southern Coast Go Red for Women Luncheon.  Howington works as an anesthetist for the NAPA Anesthesia Group in Savannah. Go Red for Women is a worldwide initiative of the American Heart Association designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally, and globally.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Cardiovascular disease continues to be a woman’s greatest health threat, taking the life of one in every three women.

“I am very excited to be leading this year’s Go Red for Women efforts in the Savannah area,” says Howington, 2024 Go Red for Women chair. “Having a direct tie to stroke and working in healthcare, I am very passionate about education and awareness on heart disease and stroke prevention. I am honored to work alongside the American Heart Association on this incredible movement of improving the lives of women in our community.”

“We are thrilled to have Cathy’s experience, conviction and passion help to drive Go Red in the Southern Coast. Together, we know that we will have a positive impact on the lives of women in our community and the families that depend on them,” said Ansley Howze, executive director, American Heart Association.

This year’s Go Red for Women movement and its local achievements will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8th at the 2024 Southern Coast Go Red for Women Luncheon. For more information about Go Red for Women visitwww.heart.org/southerncoastgored or contact [email protected]
