Re:Purpose Savannah recently announced they have been named a recipient of a $15,000 grant from the National Park Service National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT). With this funding, they will create five educational publications, documenting best-practice standard operating procedures for the management and processing of ethically and sustainably salvaged historic materials, such as those sourced from deconstruction.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the NCPTT and to contribute to preservation practice nationwide by ensuring that salvaged historic materials remain viable for reuse at the end of a structure’s lifecycle," says Board President Tia Ross.

Preservation Technology and Training Grants (PTT Grants) are intended to create better tools, materials, and approaches to conserving buildings, landscapes, sites, and collections. The grant is provided to organizations that engage in innovative research that develops new technologies or adapts existing technologies to preserve cultural resources, create specialized workshops or symposia that identify and address national preservation needs, or create mobile applications, podcasts, or best practices publications that disseminate practical preservation methods or provide better tools for preservation practice.
