City to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Highlands Park
Friday, January 19th, 2024
City of Savannah officials will cut the ribbon on phase one of the new Highlands Park on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
The first phase of the project includes a 5/8 mile fully cemented and lighted walking trail with four benches, which is the beginning of a broader project to provide a recreation destination for the growing neighborhood. The trail is part of a 39-acre plot that will eventually feature multiple recreational amenities. Neighborhood input and planning are ongoing for the final master plan.
In December of 2022, Savannah City Council approved a contract with F.H. Paschen to complete the walking trail with landscaping and a parking area in the amount of $1,200,000 which was funded by SPLOST VI. In March of 2023, City Council approved a contract with Georgia Power in the amount of $111,070 from the Capital Improvement Fund for installation of 25 LED lights along the trail.
Media and the general public are encouraged to attend the ceremony.
