Announcing the Eighth Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend Antiques Road Stroll
Monday, February 12th, 2024
For the eighth consecutive year The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia is orchestrating another iconic Savannah event. The Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend is a three-day series of presentations, tours, and events. We are dedicated to the promotion of Savannah’s robust historic preservation and all event proceeds benefit The Andrew Low House Museum and The Green-Meldrim House, two of Savannah’s most important historic houses.
Keynote Guest of Honor
This year we celebrate Savannah’s antiques and architectural legacy with American Antiques expert, Mr. Leigh Keno, best known for his role on The Antiques Road Show. In addition, tours of historic homes and antique collections are included in our Antiques Road Stroll.
Leigh Keno joins us as our Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honor this year. He is founder and President of Keno Auctions and Keno Art Advisory with nearly 50 years of experience and expertise in the art and antiques world. He has advised some of the country’s leading museums including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Colonial Williamsburg, and The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum.
Leigh has served as an expert in Christie’s American Furniture and Decorative Arts department and also as Director of the Winter
Antiques Show Vetting Committee. He is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal for his role as an educator in the field of American History and Artifacts and is a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America.
As a popular educator in American Art and Antiques, his television roles have included host positions on MSN’s Collect This, and Fox network’s Buried Treasures. His role as an appraiser continues on the EMMY nominated PBS series, Antiques Road Show.
Andrew Low House Museum Reception
To kick off the events this year, a reception to meet our keynote speaker, private home tour hosts, and Patrons will be held in the garden of the Andrew Low House Museum. Special tours that focus on the antique collections and historical cocktails will be featured at this fun reception.
Antiques Road Stroll
Our Antiques Road Stroll features tours of historic homes and antiques collections and shops all within walking distance of one another. Featured homes include the fabled Mercer-Williams House and 120 West Jones Street, each replete with important collections of American Antiques. Each house will offer cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and other refreshments all to-go in a branded “stroller”cup. Our guest of honor, Leigh Keno, will join us as a co-host. One or two other locations will be on tour as well.
