The Alfred Ely Beach High School Healthcare Science Education teachers and Allied Health Coordinator have successfully completed the rigorous Industry Certification Process. The team, consisting of Dr. Ronnie Taylor, Mrs. Latika Smalls, Ms. Marisa Covington, and Ms. Tadyana del Mar, along with Dr. Tijuana Milton, the Allied Health Coordinator, has earned Industry Re-Certification of the program for a five-year time period beginning this year and lasting until 2029.

Industry Certification is a formal process that strengthens Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs through a rigorous review conducted by leaders from business and industry. During this process, curriculum and instruction are carefully interfaced and aligned with current industry standards to assist with providing better career opportunities for students. Industry Certification is designed to promote high quality instruction for students wishing to pursue post-secondary education and qualify for entry-level positions in industry.

Dr. Taylor, Mrs. Smalls, Ms. Covington, and Ms. del Mar, the Healthcare Science teachers at Beach High School have endured the rigorous challenging process to validate the healthcare science program and better prepare their students for potential future careers in healthcare. This process allows the teachers to showcase the healthcare science program, as well as their students grasp of skills and instruction.

The award of distinction was provided by the healthcare professional industry team on March 5, 2024. The Beach High School Health Science team was commended by Industry Certification Coordinator Sharon Pye, for providing documentation that was timely and organized. The team's website was lauded as an example that will be used as a model for next year's industry certification cohort.

Industry Certification can be a daunting process, but it was successfully accomplished and recognized by the HomeTown Health agency, Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) – Career Technical Agricultural and Engineering (CTAE), and local healthcare professionals.  Congratulations to the entire Healthcare Science Team!
