Historic Savannah Foundation – a leading nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to saving the buildings, places and stories that define Savannah’s past, present and future – recently named philanthropy leader Laura Limp as the organization’s new Director of Development.

Limp brings nearly a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector and is responsible for shaping the future of the Historic Savannah Foundation through a robust, strategic fundraising program. She will oversee fundraising initiatives, forge strong relationships with corporations and foundations that align with the Historic Savannah Foundation’s mission and lead grant funding applications. In addition, she will maintain an open dialogue with current Historic Savannah Foundation members to share information about the properties saved and preservation efforts made possible by their support while also encouraging new members to join the preservation organization.

“Like our seven original female founders, Laura has a passion for history and a strong belief in the power of community involvement,” said Sue Adler, President and CEO of the Historic Savannah Foundation. “She is a wonderful addition to our team, and we know she will help us connect with others who want to preserve Savannah’s treasured past for generations to come.”

Prior to joining the Historic Savannah Foundation, Limp served as the Regional Philanthropy Officer for the American Red Cross, raising funds to support local Red Cross services across the Southeast and East Central Georgia chapters. Under her leadership, these chapters saw a 300% increase in monetary giving and gained a significant number of new community partners.

Originally from Indiana, Limp previously served as the Director of Development and Communications for Timmy Global Health in Indianapolis, as the Development Manager at The International Center in Indianapolis, as a Development Officer for Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites and as the Regional Communications Manager for the American Red Cross in Evansville, Ind.

Limp earned a B.S. in Apparel Merchandising from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. Active in the community, she enjoys volunteering for events, including Farm Aid and the Savannah Music Festival, and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She currently resides on Whitemarsh Island, Ga.
