HSF & Davenport House Museum Relaunch Historic Kennedy Pharmacy

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, March 27th, 2024

Historic Savannah Foundation and the Davenport House Museum are pleased to present new community-focused, year-round programming at the revitalized Historic Kennedy Pharmacy, located at 323 East Broughton St., including an exciting new Artisan Spotlight Series that will launch this spring. All events are open to the public and are designed to celebrate local talent, explore different facets of Savannah and engage the local community.

“We’re thrilled to expand our focus at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy and to support local artists and artisans,” said Sue Adler, President and CEO of the Historic Savannah Foundation. “The Historic Kennedy Pharmacy offers a special space for the community to come together and to enjoy thoughtful programming inspired by Savannah’s rich history, culture and creativity.”

Originally built for Savannah Harbormaster Robert Kennedy, the c.1890 building served as a working pharmacy for many years. The iconic brick and wood-fronted structure at the corner of Broughton Street and Habersham Street was revitalized by Historic Savannah Foundation and reopened in April 2022 as the Davenport House Museum’s Shop and the Murray C. Perlman & Wayne C. Spear Preservation Center.

“We’re excited about our new Artisan Spotlight Series, which will provide a dynamic platform for artists and artisans to share their unique stories and creative processes with local residents as well as visitors from around the world,” said Davenport House Museum Executive Director Danielle Hodes, who is organizing the new Artisan Spotlight Series. “We invite everyone to join us at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy for incredible Savannah-focused events throughout the year, from tea tastings to floral arranging workshops.”
