Step One Automotive Group will present their Local Hero Award to Chatham-Savannah Citizen Advocacy during their 37th Grab-n-Go Meals for veterans and first responders. The monthly awards event will be held Thursday, March 28th from 11am to 1pm at the Step One Auto North Savannah Store located at 1011 Chatham Parkway, Savannah GA 31401.
“Since April 2020, Step One Grab and Go Meals for Local Heroes has been dedicated to bringing our community together, showing appreciation and supporting local businesses. Together with Savannah Food Truck force we served 3,500 delicious meals to first responders, military, veterans, and medical workers and honored sixteen incredible individuals and organizations. From veterans, police officers, EMS, medical workers, SWAT team members, single moms, cancer survivors, social workers, and volunteers, we put a spotlight on the dedicated givers in our community,” shares Step One Automotive Group Marketing Manager Weslyn “Mahogany” Bowers.
“I choose Chatham Savannah Citizen Advocacy because they have continued to support and match adults with disabilities with good meaning adults who will advocate for them to have a better quality of life. These matches often become the start of a lifelong friendship,” adds Bowers. “We will have community partner Sweet Spice food truck onsite serving fresh authentic Jamaican cuisine.”
“As a local non-profit serving the Chatham County area for the past 45 years, we are dedicated to find advocates for people with developmental disabilities. From a five month old to a 66 year old senior in a nursing home, advocates have found ways to understand, represent and respond to the needs and desires of the persons they are matched with. Donations from community partners like Step One Auto help with our operational expenses and allow people to meet others that they may not normally have the chance to meet,” shares Chatham-Savannah Citizen Advocacy Executive Director George Seaborough.
