To complete the competitive application process, Howard had to submit multiple artifacts of application and perform in person during an interview in Ann Arbor.

English Language & Literature major Jayla Lawton has been accepted to the Master of Arts in English program at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Tx. This opportunity includes tuition support and a graduate teaching assistantship where she will teach first year writing. Her focus area will be Technical Communication.

Social Work Major Angie Palacios has been accepted to the nationally ranked Master of Social Work program at the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. where she will primarily study Gerontology.

SSU Interim President Cynthia Alexander said she was proud of the graduates’ achievements.

“We always tell our students that they can go anywhere from here, and these three ladies have proven that saying to be true,” Alexander said. “We hope that the firm educational foundation they received here continues to support them as they reach new heights and achieve their goals.”
