Savannah Music Festival to Present Exciting Live Performances in May and June, Co-Produced by Plant Riverside District
Thursday, April 18th, 2024
“At the Savannah Music Festival, we’re focused on increasing access to world-class performances, deepening our connection to the local community and keeping the music playing throughout the year,” said Savannah Music Festival Executive Director Gene Dobbs Bradford. “We’re thrilled to expand our annual spring festival into a year-round celebration at Plant Riverside District with live performances by incredibly talented artists like The Sensational Barnes Brothers, Amythyst Kiah and Steve Earle on the District Live stage.”
Newly announced Savannah Music Festival/District Live Series performances include:
THE SENSATIONAL BARNES BROTHERS
The Sensational Barnes Brothers are a musical blend of old and new – a real gem in the gospel/soul scene. As PopMatters observes, “The brothers run through a spectrum of moods and modes in their gospel soul, often bridging the gap between, say, the Soul Stirrers and Stax, all the while keeping a local flavor.” The brothers can dive deep into their roots, creating a sound that reflects the music of their history while drawing in a modern-day audience.
AMYTHYST KIAH
Amythyst Kiah is a Chattanooga-bred singer-songwriter with an artistic conception influenced by alt-rock, roots and old-time music. Her song “Black Myself” earned a GRAMMY Award nomination and won the Song of the Year Award from Folk Alliance International. The New York Times raves: “Her razor-sharp guitar picking alone guarantees her a place among masters, but it’s her deep-hued voice that can change on a dime from brushed steel to melted toffee that commands attention.”
STEVE EARLE
Steve Earle stands apart as one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation. A protege of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, The Pretenders, and countless others. In 1986, he released his influential record, Guitar Town, which shot to #1 on the country charts and is now regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. Catch Steve Earle up-close on his solo tour!
