The City of Port Wentworth has received a grant from the
Public Service Commission (PSC) for $1.26 million to provide energy for the new Anchor Park
development. The PSC unanimously approved this grant which will be used to construct pipeline
facilities to provide natural gas service for the new 150-acre recreational sports and entertainment park.
The City of Port Wentworth will partner with Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) to facilitate this energy project.

“Atlanta Gas Light is excited to partner with Port Wentworth and the Georgia Public Service
Commission to provide natural gas to this project,” said Billy Horne, director of resource planning and
economic development for Atlanta Gas Light. “We realize the importance of this project to the city of
Port Wentworth and are grateful they chose natural gas as an energy source, which is foundational to a
clean energy future. We look forward to partnering with Port Wentworth to provide for their future
energy needs.”

The Anchor Park development is one of Port Wentworth’s most significant economic development
projects and will significantly enhance quality of life, employment opportunities and property values for
residents. The park will feature a variety of multi-use fields and courts for sporting activities, a
recreational gym, a 5,500-seat outdoor amphitheater, and a 90,000-square-foot arena which will serve
as a training ground for the region’s professional ice hockey team, the Savannah Ghost Pirates and be
open to the public. It is projected to be completed by late Summer or early Fall 2025.

million in Port Wentworth,” said City Manager Steve Davis. “I am also thankful for AGL and specifically

like this one to ensure the residents of our community are receiving the maximum benefit from available
funding.”

The PSC is a highly respected organization and its approval of this grant and partnership demonstrates
the importance of this capital investment to bring new facilities, job creation and increased prosperity to
benefit the Port Wentworth community.
