Hinesville’s April Unemployment Rate Drops to 3.1%

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent in April, down one-tenth of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 2.8 percent.

"From the state to the local level, Georgia is focused on creating an environment where businesses can thrive, and everyday workers can find good jobs and build better lives.”

The labor force decreased in Hinesville by 70 and ended the month with 35,181. That number went up by 584 when compared to April of 2023.

Hinesville finished the month with 34,100 employed residents. That number decreased by 7 over-the-month and rose by 472 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Hinesville ended April with 22,200 jobs, an all-time high. That number increased by 100 from March to April and went up by 200 when compared to this time last year.

In April, initial unemployment claims increased by 73 (57%) in Hinesville. When you compare April 2024 claims to April 2023, claims were up by 85 (73%).
