In honor of National Charter Schools Week, the Tybee Island
Maritime Academy is hosting an open house event on May 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
As proud members of the charter school community, Tybee Island Maritime Academy (TIMA) is
dedicated to providing innovative and high-quality education to our students. We recognize the vital role
that legislators play in supporting and advancing the charter school movement, and we are eager to
share our successes and aspirations with them. The event will feature various activities:
1:00 PM - Opening Remarks: Attendees will receive an overview of our academy's mission,
values, and objectives, as well as highlights of recent accomplishments and ongoing projects.
1:15 PM - Brief Tour of Campus: Attendees will have the opportunity to explore our facilities,
including some classrooms and outdoor learning spaces.
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM (optional) - Visit with 7th Grade Students: One of the highlights of the event
will be the chance to interact with our 7th-grade students as they present their "Smaller
Footprints" pitch presentations which showcase students' research on local environmental
issues and their proposed solutions, providing valuable insights into our school’s educational
approach.
