SCCPSS Seniors Awarded Scholarships From the Savannah Ghost Pirates and Educate Chatham Foundation
Tuesday, June 4th, 2024
For the past two years, the Savannah Ghost Pirates has honored the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System with a SCCPSS Student & Faculty Appreciation Night at one of their regular season games. On SCCPSS Appreciation Night, 25% of all ticket sales that are sold through a special ticket ordering link are designated for SCCPSS student scholarships. The proceeds from these games raised over $6,000 which was donated to the Educate Chatham Foundation for student scholarships.
The last week of the 2024-24 School Year, Educate Chatham representatives visited each high school to surprise and present the Ghost Pirates scholarship to our deserving recipients. It was an amazing experience for our scholars and our schools. We appreciate the continued support of the Educate Chatham Foundation.
The Educate Chatham Foundation was established in 2007 in recognition of the fact that public funds alone cannot adequately support the ambitious efforts to advance student achievement in Savannah Chatham County Public Schools. Throughout the year, ECF engages the community to provide financial support for various SCCPPS student and staff recognition projects.
In addition to the $6,000 that was raised by the Savannah Ghost Pirates games, the ECF donated a matching $6,000 to ensure that all twelve (12) SCCPSS high schools could select one (1) $1,000 scholarship award winner from this year’s senior classes. The SCCPSS Academic Affairs Team established the criteria for the scholarships and the surprise scholarship awards were made during various SCCPSS graduation practice events.
The recipients of the scholarships and their schools are listed below with their photos.
We are grateful for the outstanding support of the Savanah Ghost Pirates and our Educate Chatham Foundation.
