The Veterans Council of Chatham County along with community partners, SA Recycling, Southern Motors and Yancey Bros. served Donatos Pizza at the 3ID Salute to Summer lunch on June 18th at Hunter Club on Hunter Army Airfield.

“When Command Sergeant Major Jason Adkison with the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade asked if we could put together an active duty and veterans luncheon during the kickoff for Salute to Summer, I immediately called my community partners, Donatos Pizza, SA Recycling, Southern Motors and Yancey Bros. They joined together to pay for a pizza lunch buffet from Adam Kurena at Donatos Pizza who has always supported our veterans and graciously supplied pizza at cost to our fellow community partners,” states Veterans Council of Chatham County Chairman Joe Higgins.

“The goal of the first combined lunch is part of an effort to build camaraderie between active duty military personnel and our local veterans. Connecting these young soldiers and our older veterans, we hope to give them insight and inspiration to continue their military career and help them in the transition from military life to becoming a veteran,” adds Higgins.
