15th Annual Scarecrow Stroll in Downtown Hinesville
Monday, July 15th, 2024
Night of Halloween fun to feature candy, entertainment, hayrides, activities! Planning and registration are underway for the annual Scarecrow Stroll; this year’s theme is “Show Your Superpower”. The Halloween event, sponsored and organized by the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, brings more than 15,000 people to the heart of historic downtown for trick-or-treating, hayrides, entertainment, and more, making it one of the city’s biggest events of the year.
The festival, which was founded in 2009, runs from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, October 25th, and will feature a
multitude of activities spread out throughout Bradwell Park: Commerce, Midway, and Main streets; M.L. King Jr. Drive and Central Avenue – all of which will be partially closed to traffic. Area businesses, civic groups, churches, and volunteers are needed to host candy stations, decorate, and sponsor or facilitate other activities. A detailed schedule map of the activities will be released in the last week of October.
HDDA Executive Director Michelle Ricketson expects this year’s Scarecrow Stroll to be the city’s biggest and best yet, and she encourages area residents and business owners to get involved and have fun.
“We always have a wonderful time with the Scarecrow Stroll, but it’s an enormous event that takes a lot of planning and partnerships. This year, Weichert Real Estate Professionals is sponsoring a DJ for the stage in Bradwell Park. They’re also bringing back the costume contest for ages birth to 12 and group entries. We’re counting on the community to support us by signing up to pass out candy, serving as sponsors, helping staff booths, and volunteering to assist with logistics.” Ricketson said.
