Augusta Metro Chamber Chairman Dennis Trotter announced at today's Board of Directors meeting the retirement of Sue Parr, President/CEO. Also announced was the selection of Angie Cox as President/CEO effective mid-August.

Ms. Parr has been with the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce (AMCC) since 2005 when she accepted the position of Chamber President/CEO and relocated with her husband from Lansing, Michigan where she was Executive Vice President of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. Over the last two decades, Parr has overseen the Chamber’s growth and prominence in the Augusta Region as an important voice for the business community and a strategic partner to businesses, both large and small. Under her leadership, the Chamber has served as a thought-leader on how the business community must engage in its own future growth by working to shape the forces that create a strong economy. Working at the local, state and federal levels, the Chamber is a strong advocate for policy that enhances business growth. The Chamber’s range of policy influence and education spans a wide agenda including federal industry regulation and infrastructure to transportation and workforce policy at the state level as well as sales tax referendums, tax relief, regulatory constraints and government efficiency at the county level.  Signature programs like Students2Work, Talent2Work, Red Carpet, Greater Augusta Day, Member Economic Luncheons and the Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch have positioned the Chamber state-wide as an innovative organization seeking to serve its members with the best in relevant programming to ensure their continued success. Parr has been recognized in both James Magazine and Georgia Trend as most influential in the state and is the recipient of the 2023 Legacy Award of the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives of which she served as Chair in 2020.

Mrs. Angie Cox has served as Executive Vice President for the Augusta Metro Chamber since 2021. Prior to joining AMCC, Mrs. Cox was the President of the Milledgeville-Baldwin, Ga Chamber of Commerce. As a Georgia Certified Chamber Executive and Executive VP of the Chamber, Cox’s responsibilities have included management of membership development, member programming and seasonal home rental through the Chamber’s Masters Housing Bureau. Her efforts have resulted in the organization’s largest revenue and membership increases to-date as well as doubling member participation in event programming over the last several years.

“We are extremely fortunate for the Chamber to be in the position it is in today and a succession plan that will guarantee its continued success”, says Chairman Dennis Trotter. “The Executive Committee of the Chamber, which also served as the selection committee for a new President, was unanimous in its promotion of Angie as the incoming President and as we worked with Sue and her retirement transition to ensure her hard work over many decades will be honored yet serve as a strong foundation for the many new and exciting times to come under Angie’s leadership. We can’t thank Sue enough for her leadership in expanding the reach of the Chamber in all areas and congratulate her on an outstanding career at the AMCC!”.

Although retiring, Parr will stay active in the field of public policy by consulting for the Chamber for a period of time and assisting in the leadership transition.
