Bank of America Awards Union Mission with Grant to Support Housing Programs in Savannah

Bank of America recently awarded a $10,000 grant to support Union Mission’s Emergency Housing Programs for men, women, and children. This grant is part of Bank of America’s commitment to responsible growth as it works to improve the financial lives of individuals, families, and entire communities. In addition, Bank of America held a Better Money Habits® financial literacy training class for Union Mission clients last week.

Better Money Habits® is Bank of America’s free, financial education platform connecting people with tools, resources and education necessary to take control of their finances. By providing informative resources and objective and actionable guidance, this program supports people of all life stages, backgrounds and ambitions in becoming more financially resilient. This class will help empower Union Mission clients to make informed and confident decisions at every step of their financial journey.

In 2023, Union Mission served 1,250 individuals with 180,800 nights of housing and 260,337 meals. Through the Emergency Housing Programs, Union Mission is able to provide clients with 90 days of housing, individualized case management and access to an array of comprehensive supportive services that work to address clients’ medical, mental health, transportation and employment needs in order to help them permanently end their homelessness.

  • Grace House for Men provides 72 total beds; 32 beds for men experiencing homelessness as well as 28 transitional housing units for graduates of the Emergency Housing Program and 12 beds for previously incarcerated individuals to promote successful transitions to their community.

  • Magdalene House supports 20 Women and Children through 6 emergency housing suites and supportive services to help the fastest growing population of homeless individuals obtain safe, stable housing.

  • Parkers House supports 32 Unaccompanied Women and is the only Emergency Housing Program along the

    I-95 corridor from Florida to South Carolina dedicated solely to single women experiencing homelessness.
