Moon River Pool Care Helps Pool Owners Prepare for Hurricane Season

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

In the midst of hurricane season and after the flooding of Tropical Storm Debby, Moon River Pool Care (MRPC) encourages pool owners to be proactive in protecting their pool and outdoor areas. Proper prevention can ensure the safety of property and prevent costly repairs.

Although most hurricanes form between Aug. and Oct., the Atlantic hurricane season takes place from June 1 to Nov. 30. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts above-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin during the 2024 hurricane season. NOAA is forecasting a range of 17 to 25 total named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher). Of those, eight to 13 are forecast to become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including four to seven major hurricanes (winds of 111 mph or higher). As experts, MRPC offers a few preparation tips that can help reduce costly damage to pools if a storm were to hit our region.

If a storm is forecast, make sure your pool is full. Move loose items such as patio furniture and toys inside. Turn off the power to pool equipment, and then protect that equipment. Add extra chlorine to the pool. Do not store pool furniture in the pool as it likely will cause more damage than the storm itself.

"Proper pool maintenance and safety measures are crucial during hurricane season, as they protect not only the integrity of your pool but also reduce the need for repairs," said MRPC Founder Ion Bratianu.

MRPC is a veteran owned and operated swimming pool, hot tub, and spa maintenance company. When you need help from the experts before or after a hurricane, the professionals at MRPC are just a phone call, email, or click away.
