Savannah Children’s Choir Presents Savannah Children’s Choir Day

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, August 15th, 2024

The Savannah Children’s Choir (SCC) is offering an extraordinary opportunity for Savannah students to get a taste of being in the choir on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 10am-3:30pm at Connexion Church located on 5411 Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA 31406. This Savannah Children’s Choir Day is open to all children ages 10-16.

John Tisbert, formerly with the Garrison School of Performing Arts and Delandria Aiken of the Susie King Taylor Community School are the new directors of the SCC and have a fun day planned for interested students. Participants will receive a free lunch and the day will end with a live mini concert by special guest performers.

“This is a great chance for young singers to sample the SCC experience. SCC gives children a strong foundation to sing in an organized group and learn how to be part of a team, to learn to read music, to understand the meaning of music”, stated Roger Moss, Co-Founder of the SCC.

According to the National Library of Medicine, “Music training has repeatedly been claimed to positively impact children’s cognitive skills and academic achievement (literacy and mathematics). This claim relies on the assumption that engaging in intellectually demanding activities fosters particular domain-general cognitive skills, or even general intelligence.” The SCC encourages parents to pre-register their children as soon as possible by visiting: https://tinyurl.com/savchildrenschoir
