The Board of Governors of the Savannah Jewish Federation (SJF) and the Board of Directors of the Jewish Educational Alliance (JEA) announce the appointment of Sam Friedman to Chief Executive Officer, to lead both organizations. His selection is the result of an extensive national search. Mr. Friedman will oversee both organizations, effective August 26, 2024.

Mr. Friedman brings 14 years of experience in Jewish communal leadership, most recently as Chief Development Officer of Shalom Orlando.  He has served in leadership roles with Hillel campus organizations at the University of Central Florida and Stetson University, Jewish Community Centers and Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, where he successfully increased both donor pools and contribution levels, led hundreds of youth on missions to Israel, and created innovative programs to engage the local population.

Mr. Friedman commented, “I could tell in my first interview that there is something special about Savannah. I am looking forward to building upon your current successes, forging new opportunities and connections, and growing the JEA and Savannah Federation into an even better and stronger agency for us all!”

Linda Sacks, President of the Board of Governors of the SJF, and Allison Konter, President of the Board of Directors of the JEA, along with both leadership boards extend a hearty thank you to Adam Solender for his 17 years of dedicated service. During his tenure he led the organizations to financial stability, envisioned and oversaw the creation of the Early Childhood Education program at the JEA, and played a pivotal role in the expansion of our camp and children’s programming. He has been a strong and integral presence in the greater Savannah community.

Linda and Allison added, “Savannah will forever be grateful to Adam for his service and leadership. We are excited to welcome Sam and his wife Jennifer to the Savannah community. We look forward to working with him for the continued vitality of both organizations for the benefit of the greater Savannah community!”
