Local 574 to Hold Stair Climb Honoring 9/11 First Responders

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, September 5th, 2024

The Savannah Professional Firefighters (Local 574) is proud to announce their second annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, honoring the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice during the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. This meaningful event will take place on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Savannah Civic Center where local professional firefighters and participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories in tribute to the World Trade Center towers.

This stair climb symbolizes the heroic journey that 343 firefighters took on 9/11 as they ascended the towers to save lives, many of whom never returned. Our crews of local firefighters invite local media, families, and supporters to join them in this solemn commemoration.

This event is free and open to the public. Participants are not required to climb the full 110 flights of stairs but are encouraged to complete as many as they can physically accomplish.  There will be refreshments provided after the climb.
