Plant Riverside District – which is widely known as
Savannah’s Entertainment District – is proud to announce its fourth annual Oktoberfest celebration,
which will showcase a blend of fun activities on three Saturdays, October 5, October 12 and October
19, including the return of the popular Savannah Wiener Dog Races and the addition of the All Breeds
Dog Races. All family-friendly festivities will take place at Plant Riverside District, located on
Savannah’s historic riverfront at 400 W. River St.

VanBaelen, Director of Marketing. “We invite everyone to join us at Plant Riverside District to enjoy
incredible live music, delightful German food and beer, and family-friendly fun and games.”

On Saturday, October 5, Plant Riverside District will host the inaugural 2024 Savannah All Breeds
Dog Races, an event created by popular demand of the dog owners from Savannah and its
surroundings. All dogs not classified as a Wiener Dog (dachshund or dachshund mix) will be able to
register in weight classes up to 30 pounds. The 2024 Savannah Wiener Dog Races will take place on
Saturday, October 12. Both races are organized by Savannah’s Waterfront in collaboration with Plant
Riverside District, with proceeds benefiting Savannah’s Waterfront, a 501c3 non-profit organization
whose mission is to preserve the history, maintain the appearance, promote the area, and promote
collaboration among businesses along Savannah’s Waterfront.

All dogs and owners from all over the area are invited to join the big races on River Street. Apart from
the fastest run awards in all weight classes, there will be exciting contests such as best dressed dog,
best dressed dog owner and more. Entry cost is $25.00. Registration/check-in will open at 9:00 a.m.,
races begin at 11:00 a.m. in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. The grand prize winner will receive a specialtrophy as well as a $100 gift card to District Seafood or District BBQ at Plant Riverside District. All

“We had so much fun last year at Plant Riverside District, bringing back the Savannah Wiener Dog
Races after a four-year absence,” said Julie Musselman, Executive Director of Savannah’s Waterfront.
“We did get some feedback from terriers, beagles, collies, and other hounds who wanted their day in
the sun too. So, we are howling with excitement about the new Savannah All Breeds Dog Races.”

Every Saturday Plant Riverside District will feature a range of free German-themed activities with live
music by the German polka band The Rhinelanders and many others, fun games with a Strudel Stroll,
Keg Bowling, Stein Holding, and other competitions with special prizes to be awarded to winners.

Throughout Oktoberfest, the exceptional restaurants at Plant Riverside District will serve specialty
beers as well as authentic German food including a variety of brat preparations and German Chocolate
cake. Featured Oktoberfest beers include Sam Adams Seasonal Octoberfest, Bell’s Brewery
Octoberfest, Yuengling Oktoberfest, Service Brewing Teufel Hunden, Southern Tier Pumking, New
Realm, and Bavarian Prince Oktoberfest Marzen, as well as alternate options such as Angry Orchard
Cider and Sam Adams Just the Haze Non-Alcoholic IPA.
