Officials Discuss New Historic Overlay district in Effingham County

Following a controversial rezoning application attempt, plans to establish a new historic overlay district in Effingham are taking shape. The goal of this new historic overlay district is to preserve the character of one of Georgia’s original settlements.
County employees and people living within the district attended a meeting Wednesday to discuss what planning regulations should be in place for the “gateway” to Historic Ebenezer.
