City Of Port Wentworth Police Department Opens New Training Facility

Today, the City of Port Wentworth Police Department (PWPD) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new training facility. This state-of-the-art facility will be used for a wide variety of training exercises and courses for the department and surrounding law enforcement agencies in the region.

“The Port Wentworth Police Department is pleased to be opening this facility not only for our department but for the region. This facility will provide our officers with ways to advance their training to make sure we offer the highest quality of law enforcement to serve our community,” said PWPD Training Coordinator, Lieutenant Austin Neumann.

Some of the training that will be conducted here include, but are not limited to:

  • Firearms classes and yearly qualifications.

  • Community policing/de-escalation classes.

  • Taser and less lethal training.

  • Active shooter response.

  • Instructor classes.

  • Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality simulation training.

  • Supervision and leadership classes.

The PWPD is committed to working closely with all segments of the general public and government to preserve peace and provide a safe environment for the people who live and work in the community. order, protect persons and property, apprehend criminals, direct and control traffic, investigate traffic accidents and enforce all state and City criminal laws.
