Thursday, November 7th, 2024

The Hinesville Fire Department celebrated promotions for numerous members of its staff this past week.
As seasoned department heads retire, this creates a wave of change and growth to promote within the ranks. The first promotion began with former Fire Marshal Kevin Bechert's transition into Deputy Chief, as Andy Fowler stepped down after 31 years of dedication and excellent service to the Hinesville community. It is with great pride that the Hinesville Fire Department shares the following promotions:

  • Jad Brashears to Senior Firefighter

  • Ryan Wells to Engineer

  • Donald Barras to Engineer

  • Kevin Poynter to Engineer

  • Brian Sleeth to Captain

  • Justin Zieman to Battalion Chief

  • Mohammad Bryant to Training Chief

“Our fire department is a united family; recruits experience the culture of support as they walk through the bay doors. It is a selected few who decide to serve and place their lives at risk for their community. It brings me great joy to see the potential of recruits unfold as they become local heroes and the future of our department,” said Robert W. Kitchings Jr., Fire Chief.

The Hinesville Fire Department is currently seeking firefighters. The benefits, salary, and schedule are among the best in the region. Benefits include but are not limited to uniform allowance; annual, holiday, and sick leave; affordable health insurance; retirement and pension; and paid training.

The complete job description and application are online on the City of Hinesville website. Once completed, the completed application can be uploaded directly to the Employment Application Submission section of the website.
