Savannah Ballet Theatre Continues Holiday Tradition Of The Nutcracker And Serves The Community This December
Wednesday, November 6th, 2024
The Savannah Ballet Theatre (SBT) is thrilled to continue their holiday tradition with a live performance of The Nutcracker at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 at The Lucas Theatre, located at 32 Abercorn Street in Savannah. SBT will also serve the community with a special, low-sensory performance for children with sensory sensitivities, such as children with autism or children with sensitivities to light and sound, on Thursday, December 5 at the Ben Tucker Theatre at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center, located on 201 Montgomery Street in Savannah. The low sensory performance is sponsored by the City of Savannah who has made it possible for this performance to be presented for the community.
SBT’s production of The Nutcracker is an opportunity to embrace the holiday spirit by joining young Clara on her journey at the local holiday party set in 1940’s Savannah and her fantastical dream as her Christmas gift comes to life. This year’s performance will showcase the talent of the ballet dancers, beautiful sets, and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score.
“We are overjoyed to be able to bring The Nutcracker to the stage again this December and once again offer our low-sensory performance,” said Suzanne Braddy, Savannah Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director. “It is a special type of holiday magic to see Clara’s dream unfold, and we look forward to have our audiences experience the joy of the live performance.”
To purchase tickets for the December 7 performance, please call the SCAD box office at 912-525-5050. Tickets start at $30 per person.
SBT is Savannah and southeast Georgia’s only professional dance company. Their mission is to develop and showcase the talent of dedicated Savannah dancers alongside top professional dancers who train in the studio and engage in educational outreach and promotion of the art of dance within the community.
