Savannah Firms Host Maritime CLE Conference

Last week, the maritime division of Bouhan Falligant hosted Sailing in Savannah – A Maritime Law CLE Conference. 

This inaugural event included six hours of continuing legal education from leaders across the coastal and southeastern United States, including Bouhan’s own Todd Baiad, who moderated discussion on the Limitation of the Liability Act for vessel owners and its’ practical considerations. 

“Lifelong learning is an essential part of both personal and professional growth. It has made us proud to see attendees deepen their understanding of this field and leave with insights they can take home with them. I am proud to have been a part of organizing this conference and to show visitors what makes the city of Savannah so special,” said Todd Baiad, Partner and legal leader within the maritime law practice. 

Panelists during the discussion included Edward Powers, Associate General Counsel to Maersk Line Limited; James F. Moseley, Jr., Partner at Moseley Prichard Parrish Knight & Jones; T. Kent Morrison, Partner at Phelps Dunbar; and Jessica L. McClellan, Trial Attorney in Aviation, Space, and admiralty Litigation at the U.S. Department of Justice.

The program also included panel presentations on vessel, terminal, and port operator risk management, limitation of liability proceedings, and Longshore Harbor and Workers Compensation Act claims.
